After serving as a local Ottawa icon for 56 years, the Scouts Canada Totem Pole needs repairs due to fading paint and wood deterioration.  A gift from Boy Scouts of British Columbia in 1961 to celebrate the inauguration of Scouts Canada’s National Headquarters, the totem pole recognizes Scouts Canada’s commitment to the stewardship of nature and the conservation of the environment. The totem pole is the tallest carved by Chief Mungo Martin, the last person on the West Coast trained as a traditional carver, and one of the 20th century’s most distinguished Kwakwaka’wakw carvers.

Help us preserve the legacy of the Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations People of Canada.
